Q. What type of sheabutter do you produce?

We produce unrefined grade A conventional sheabutter others describe as crude or raw sheabutter.

Q. What is the difference between cold-pressed and hand-crafted sheabutter?

Cold-pressed is a mechanized form of extraction where the oil is pressed out of the nuts, whilst hand-crafted is extraction using the hand mostly done by rural women.

Q. What is the difference between refined and unrefined sheabutter?

Refined sheabutter is sheabutter which has had its Free Fatty Acids removed making it softer. This is done by the use of sodium hydroxide. Unrefined sheabutter is also called raw sheabutter because besides its primary form of extraction it has not been processed further with any chemical.

Q. What is the quality and specification of your sheabutter?

Our quality is grade A and our specification is;

  1.  Free Fatty Acid           < 3%
  2. Insoluble impurities    < 1%
  3. Moisture content          <1%

Q. What is the color of your sheabutter?

Our sheabutter comes with one natural color of light yellow, white or ivory. Depending on your choice of color we can produce naturally without any artificial coloration.

Q. Are all sheabutters the same?

All sheabutters are not the same. There are three grades for unrefined sheabutter; 

  1. Grade A with FFA <2%
  2. Grade B with FFA <3%
  3. Grade C with FFA <5%

Some sheabutters do not even fall within this range and could have FFA’s to 7%. High FFA level means that the percentage of the butter cannot be utilized in any chemical reaction and therefore is waste. High FFA also means that the shea butter has short shelf life and will soon go rancid.

Q. Do you use chemicals at any stage in the processing of your sheabutter?

Absolutely not. Our shea nuts are bought from communities whose shea trees are not close to farms to avoid erosion of fertilizers and other chmicals used on farms to having any contact with the trees.Obviously shea trees are not cultivated but only grow in the wild. Our extraction process is manual by hand and is 100% chemical free.

Q. How do you package your shea butter?

Our traditional packaging is in cartons of 25kg weight, other weights such as 25lb and 10kilos are also considered. Besides we can package based on the specification of our cherished customer.

Q. Can you export my sheabutter to me where I am?

Yes, we can export your shea butter to you wherever you are. Ghana has two ports at Tema and Takoradi with vessels going to every country in the world. Smaller quantities will be air freighted.

Q. What is your production capacity per month?

We can produce 100tons of sheabutter per month.

We have no limitation to the quantity you wish to order provided you can meet the shipping cost.

Q. Why are your prices low?

We are direct producers and so there are no middle-men. We are therefore the farm gate at your doorsteps.

Q. What makes your sheabutter different from other sheabutters?

Our sheabutter is processed at one stop processing facilities. All the stages of production takes place at one place, therefore you are assured of a sheabutter produced with extra filtered pipe water, free from animal contact, well supervised production, direct from the producer, consistent color and smell and chemical free thus organic by nature.

Q. Who processes your sheabutter?

Our sheabutter is processed by 340 rural women in eight production sites, with the main processing facility located in Gurugu, a suburb of Tamale.

Q. How long have you been producing sheabutter?

We have been producing sheabutter for the past 9 years.

Q. What is the impact of your business on the life of your women and the community as a whole?

Our women make a living from the business. They have been registered under the countries National Insurance Scheme and the youth are engaged in routine jobs like packaging and loading. Ninety-eight percent of the children of our processing are in school as a result of payment they receive working at the processing center.
